Social skills are important to the way we interact with others and live our daily lives, but some individuals—including children with autism—can experience troubles in this area. There is hope, though, as social skills training can be an effective way to promote healthy communication and interactions. At Teach and Play ABA, we are proud to offer social skills training for children in the Bloomington area under the age of 13 who are diagnosed with autism. With the help of our highly trained and experienced clinicians, your child will be well on the way to improving their skills in communication, conflict resolution, and theory of mind training.

Social Skills Training: How it Works

We understand that getting your child the care he or she needs can be difficult, especially when you already have a packed schedule. That’s why we offer our social skills groups after school hours, and the training may even be covered by your insurance. These groups are designed to promote positive social skills in a way that feels fun and natural for children with autism, as our clinicians utilize a play-based approach that may include Legos, acting, and team-building activities. Our team also:

  • Makes every attempt to match potential group mates by age ranges and abilities
  • Customizes their recommendations based on each child’s own skill set
  • Works hard to accommodate every patient
  • We are dedicated to providing individualized treatment to children with autism in a manner that promotes their ability to gain skills in an environment that feels both comfortable and natural.
